Tony Jeffries, Olympic medalist boxer explains why this change matters, and gives his own opinion on horsehair versus foam boxing gloves. Horsehair gloves cause real problems because there is no universal rule for how much horsehair versus foam goes into a hybrid glove, which means two gloves can both weigh 10 ounces and still protect completely differently. Hand problems are what made Tony retire from boxing after 106 fights, so Tony wants more protection in his hands, not less, and fully supports the ban.
